well if you want it to look at all decent, you will need to wait for an aftermarket kit .... or...
you can have a completely custom install done, they will likely build a special bracket for the deck, but no guarentee how good it's going to look... a final option is to buy either a double-din deck (pioneer makes a lot of them). Or you can put two units in the dashboard (such as a deck and DSP unit)... I am an audio nut myself but I decided that it's just not worth it in this car... don't want to deal with all of the headaches that aftermarket stereo installations cause (rattles, vibrations, warrenty headaches, etc).

Don't forget about the climate controls
On pre-2000, the radio and climate control covers were seperate pieces.
On the 2000, it is one cover, and I'm pretty sure that the climate control unit was lowered, meaning a pre-2000 radio cover and climate cover wouldn't fit together.
I would look into using your current cover, and just build a small frame to fill the space left from the pre-2000 radio. Also remember that the pre-2000 face is wider.
Hope this helps.
