Considered a ski rack?
I assuming some apolstry rework would need to be done to put a ski sack into an A4 without one. There are several good rack companies that could work for you, and cost around the $300 range. (i.e. Thule, Yakima, etc.) This would avoid modifications to the car, and it comes off too.

It really doesn't look tough ...
I just took a look at mine. If you buy (or find at a salvage yard) the parts, the seats come out really easily. It is just a matter of lining up the parts and cutting the area behind the armrest accurately.
Jon
'96 A4q

Re: Considered a ski rack?
Call Licton's at 1-800-323-4083 and ask for Doug (www.lickbike.com). They had by far the best Yakima prices on the web (better than rei.com and paddlers.com). A Yakima roof rack set-up to carry 3 sets of skis would be $275 US. That price includes: 4 Q-Towers (feet) @ $90, 2 48" poles @ $32, 4 clips @ $38, 6 locks @ $40 and the Buttondown6 ski/snowboard rack @ $75. There is also no tax.
Later,
Mike B.

Ski bag retro may not be wuf it.
I don't think my 96 ski bag will take four pair, so you are still stuck with using the 60% side. My salesman got me the bag without charge prior to delivery, maybe he just swapped out another cars 60% side into mine. For you non-Californians you can keep your boots in the trunk and keep them warm if you drop half the rear seat. Sierra skiers only need to keep track of their hats in case they need them some year.
Bill Shaffer
