Snow chains/ABS Christmas Disaster...HELP!!! (1999 A4)

Re: Looks like the cv boot is split. You can most likely repair the wiring yourself.
What's the CV boot? The brake line looked fine on both front tires (where the chains were)

The cv boot is the rubber bellows like part just inside the wheel.
It covers the constant velocity joint (cv) (axle ends) and protects it from the elements. If torn, the cv joint grease will 'wash away' and allow rapid wear of the joint.

Brake fluid doesn't magically dissapear, it can boil off under extreme circumstances.
The fact that the pedal started going to the floor after the incident, and you subsequently needing to add more brake fluid makes me think that you definitely did something to the brake line as well.
Pump the pedal to the floor multiple times and see if the fluid level in the reservoir changes. At the very least you need to bleed your brakes, so that the pedal actually does something.

Agreed. Looks like the hard brake line is broken, not the rubber lines.
They are a bit more expensive to replace, but should not be too bad.
All the best,

The METAL hose is broken. That needs to be fixed. The wires are for the ABS sensor, AND the pad wear
The wires can be spliced, and the metal brake line can be replaced. Shouldn't cost that much in parts, and new brake fluid, and bleeding the line.
