My friends store is like 30 miles away.

I shouldn't, but I don't think I'll be able to resist. Isn't it better if I install them in Spring?

from what i gather real only benefit from waiting is less salt on road, and less potholes to hit.

Default If you aren't able to get an alignment before driving back in the snow I'd wait till after. The

alignmnt can get really ishy with a lowered suspension and while it isn't an issue in the dry or even all that much an issue in the wet, it could make the car VERY squirrley in snow.
