never go into debt. never buy something you can't immediately pay for. i promptly went out and got myself into 10k of debt (car). save your money and wait.

Been there, done that, f*cked that up...
I agree with tecnodianoetic. Don't go into debt, especially for mods.
I am in debt (largely because of my car) and I wish I had done a lot of things differently. And I am trying like hell to get my sorry a$$ OUT of debt.
Rule of thumb:
Only finance things that APPRECIATE in value, like real estate. Because at least your interest expenses will be offset by the appreciation in value.
Even if I wanted to correct my mistakes by selling off all my mods, I wouldn't even come close to what it cost me. (Which is a great justification for keeping them on the car. :-)
Don't make the same mistakes that I did.

yeah but... when I get CC offers in the mail, it says the APR
And it doesn't say that anywhere on the American General website to apply for your credit. Otherwise I'd be all over it.
