Default Some exhaust install pics from this weekend...

About a month ago I bought a used Milltek from 'slightly disgruntled' in Pittsburgh. Had Morgan from the 4000 forum pick it for me (Thanks Morgan!) and the plan was to drive up some time and pick it up. Then last weekend we had a meet in the DC area and 'myers1.8t' agreed to come down for the meet and bring the exhaust in exchange for gas money. Unfortunately he ran into brake caliper issues and wasn't able to make it, so he drove down later that week and delivered the exhaust (Thanks Chris!).

Now on to the exhaust. The exhaust is Milltek's resonated 2.75" version. The flex joint and most everything else had surface tarnish on it, so I set to work cleaning it up before installing it. The tips and 2 mufflers were polished, and I could have polished the pipes to a high shine as well, but quickly went over them with a oxidation remover brush and then painted it with 1200F paint. Overall it looks tons better than it did for about 2 hours of work.

Then I removed the GReddy 2.4" unit that was in the car, which I'll give the same treatment to before selling it to the next owner. Milltek was too bad to install. Looks like the previous owner had ghetto rigged the clamps and had applied exhaust sealing putty to the joints, so I had to first wire brush that all off. Used a new stretch clamp to correctly seal the exhaust where it meet up with the LaBree downpipe.

Impressions: Exhaust is very, very quiet. I'm sure the passengers in my car will like it much more now, no exhaust noise from the gutted back seat area anymore. If a stock exhaust is a 1 on the sound gauge, Milltek is a 2-3, GReddy is a 5, and a Magnaflow un-resonated is a whopping 9-10 :-)

Enjoy the pics...
R.

P.S. Also flushed out the trans fluid and put in the usual Redline cocktail after running regular 75w/90 for 2k miles to clean it out.

Default Did you get all the clamps figured out? What did you use?

Is it too quiet for your taste? I like a little rumble in my jungle

Default Lol at "a Magnaflow un-resonated is a whopping 9-10".

It cleaned up really nice, Roger. Looks good and glad everything worked out.

Needed to get a new stretch clamp... aluminum wrap wasn't tight enough.

Default FYI, Milltek actually ships muffler cement with them...

And the instructions tell you to use it, so at least that part wasn't "ghetto rigged"

Default milltek with k03/k04 is super quiet...

but with a bigger turbo setup, it's a lot louder and it sounds great!
