Default Someone tell me if this sounds like a wheel bearing going bad

My car makes a thudding noise that repeats its self on equal intervals from the right side of the car when making a left turn. The more you turn the faster it gets. I went to get an estimate today at a mechanic and he told me he doesn't think it's the wheel bearing that it could be the axle instead. Do these symptoms sound like that of a wheel bearing?

It's definately not click, but it isn't continuous either, it has a pulse relative to the car speed

Default Sounds like a bad CV joint/drive axle

Do you hear it when accelerating uphill from a stop? Does it make *clonk-clonk-clonk* at certain speeds, then it goes away?

Default I had one make thudding noises when accelerating uphill

I didn't have to go a curve to hear it. I'd compare the sound to a steel ball slamming around in a plastic bucket. I could not only hear but also feel it.
