Speed Sensor Code

Hello everyone, I recently had the clutch replaced and the speedo has stopped working. There is an error code of P0501 in the system. Originally thought that the speed sensor went bad or broke. It has been replaced and still have no speedo and code above. The code states Speed Sensor Range/Performance problem. Does anyone no what could be the problem or how that is different from the speed sensor malfunction code. Any help greatly appreciated.
