Speeding ticket?

I live in Toronto and got a speeding ticket on Oct. 28. I went to the courthouse to request a court date on Nov.2. At this point I have still not received a court date. My question is: After what time period can I say in court that I was denied my right to a speedy trial, and have the case thrown out? Any Canadians now the statute of limitations on this? Also what is the limitation for American courts? Thanks

It can take months, it goes by the Officer's schedule, not yours.
