I last looked at the A4 in 1998. Since then, I get the impression that the list of standard equipment has changed, but the various Web sites (Edmunds, etc.) are not consistent.

So, are the following standard now?
- trip computer
- a stereo with in-dash CD
- a full-size spare
- keyless (remote-control) entry

Also, what do the cupholders look like now? In 1998, they were a couple of laughable little pop-up gizmos that _might_ hold a soda can still. (Maybe.)

yes those are al standard now on the 1.8t

there are 3 cupholders. 2 under the armrest and one in the dash above the cd player. it looks flimsy to me.personally i hate cupholders, so i dont plan on using them too often. i havent been in the 2000 yet but i drove the 99.5 and 99. i think the 99.5 is a pretty good indication of whats in the 2000.

The in-dash CD and full size spare are standard. Trip computer is part of the $1200 Convenience Package which also includes sunroof and auto-dimming mirrors. I believe the keyless remote is standard, or it could be part of the conv. package.

Correction...I believe trip computer is standard equipment on the 2000 (nt)

... all standard: trip computer with auto-check system, folding key with remote locking, in dash CD/cassette/receiver. Sedans get the full size alloy spare. Avants get a space saver.

Though my 99.5 has many of the 2000 upgrades (trim pieces, interior controls, overhead sunroof console, headlights, door handles, etc...), it does not have the trip computer, in dash CD player or the full size spare. I guess have the 1999 equivalent of the convenience package which includes the folding key, sunroof, and remote locking. The 2000 convenient package inlcudes the auto-dim mirrors which i don't have, along with the roof and Homelink transmitter system.
