I've got this problem in a 2 month old Avant. However, the real problem is that the dealer is having a terrible time getting the right part in. Weeks! (Today the *wrong* part arrived!) Don't know if this is mere incompetence or some conspiracy to completely turn off formerly excited and enthusiastic new owners, but seriously, this has ruined my whole introduction to A4s. I can no longer recommend A4s to friends given this experience. Some of you love bashing Hondas, but they handle well, have decent engines, and, most importantly, they don't sit in f*****g shops for a month when only 2 months old!<br>

Conrad, What's wrong with your rack? Leaking? Are they replacing the rack? I don't blame you for being upset and hopefully this will be the only thing wrong with your car. Then you can go out and drive like hell. ( that's if you like to drive like that.

Are sure it is the rack? Similar noise from control arm

Dave,<p>My 98 2.8Q just started making a groaning, screeching noise from the front end when I turned the wheel when stopped or at slow speeds. The noise also was apparent when starting from a stop. The power steering fluid was between min and max. I took the car to the dealer and they told me it was the lower control arm bushing, which is part of the arm itself. The parts just came in and I'm going tomorrow to get it fixed. The service advisor just pressed down on the front end to make the noise, he immediately said it was the control arm bushing. Hope this helps and they find the right problem.
