STFA, can I put a '00-'02 qm S4 exhaust from the cat. back on my '01 tqm A4...?
I'm going to get a K04 and will need an exhaust. If the stock S4 will fit I think I can save a few bucks that way. What do ya think? I think it should work as long as it actually helps and is big enough.

No it will not fit. With modification it will fit the 2.8.
I would suggest looking for a used Neuspeed, Borla, APR, etc.

would work with some modding on your wife's 2.8 but not on your 1.8t
If you want to save some money go with a custom setup from a muffler shop with a magnaflow muffler and glaspack to replace the resonator. Alot of people have done it with good results.

no big deal. It will give them all something to do at work besides work. Hum.....
a guy who works at a local shop said it should work so I though I would try and find the answer on here. Had no luck searching so I thought I'd ask. Thanks anyway.

Sure it will fit a 1.8T........
Just buy a 2.5" Milltek downpipe and you will then need some custom 2.5" piping made to join the mid muffler area of the 2.5" S4 exhaust to your downpipe.
My Audi tech did the exact thing with my 2000 A4 1.8TQ. I have now have a very quiet stock like 2.5" cat back exhaust system.
