Stoptech Rear Brake Upgrade?
I already have the Stoptech big brake kit - but want to upgrade my rears as well for track work (I know its the fronts that do most of the braking but at the track a rear upgrade is worth it IMO).
Stoptech have a 4 wheel kit for the S4 incorporating the dedicated hand brake caliper.
Can we use the rear part of this kit for the A4 and team it up with the Stoptech A4 fronts?
Master Cylinder Change required????

Re: Arnt the front Stoptech kit good enough for you on the track?????
Have you had problems with them on the track???
What problems were you experiencing with them on the last track day????

You may want to wait for the results of the S4 shootout...
before making that decision. Rumor has it that there was a little bit of a surprise during the braking tests. Your '99 may already have the larger master cylinder, change apparently occurred during that MY. I don't know if this is a reliable method of identifying the mc, but my A4 (small bore) has a round reservoir and my S4 (large bore) has a rectangular reservoir. I have the A8 rears coupled with the ST 332mm fronts and the small bore mc works fine IMO.

Think twice??? U should listen to yourself
U make a post to stir up **** - then you get pissed when I retort.
Your post was not constructive, and was designed to do nothing more than try and hang **** on the AWESOME stoptech brake kit.
Do me a favour - go and get your own brake kit before you mouth off with smart *** posts.

StopTech S4 rear upgrade fits the earlier A4
The StopTech S4 rear upgrade fits the earlier A4. If you have a front 332 kit you would have to change out the front calipers to keep the front to rear torque ratio the same. Front piston size must go up. No change would be needed to the master cylinder.
Our official position is that you do not need a rear kit for club track days. Good rear pads and rear stainless steel lines are all we recommend.
If you check your rear temps and find they are consistently over 1000 degrees F then you need bigger rear brakes. If the temps are running 500-750 degrees F, you are fine.
If really want a rear brake upgrade we will be happy to sell you one. Rear kits do look spectacular and are a head turning option.
