Storage Question

Since my fiance's car is on lease and about to be returned, we have been driving her car 99% of the time this winter. While this means that I have had only limited quattro fun in the snow, I have been able to keep the car washed, garaged, and under 30K miles.

My question is this...after I wash the car and leave it in the garage for a while (7-10 days), the car has the initial sensation of the pads being frozen (or rusted) to the rotors. I do not leave the e-brake on, and the pads release from the rotors after I leave the car (right?) so what would be freezing up? I give the car a little power and the wheels break free, after which there is no problem.

I'm not really worried about this, but am just curious why this happens.

sounds a little weird

yes the pads do release when you let off of the brake but it is a very small amount so if the rotors are getting rusty from sitting then I'd say it's not really a problem. It is possible you have a sticking caliper. Look for more dust on one wheel over another or smell all four wheels after a good ride to see if one is running hot. You can put your hand right on the rim as well to sell if one is hotter than the other. I would find it really strange to have a caliper sticking on a car this new but I play with antique cars all of the time so a sticking caliper is all too commmon. I've set more than one hub on fire over the years from sticking calipers.
