strut problem
I got my power steering system repaired: rack, hoses, pump. Great! But now my car sways from right to left as I turn the steering wheel (even when was the car is stationary). And my steering wheel feels so loose. It's the struts (I think). Are struts related to the rack? When I had no power steering, I never felt any swaying? Why is that?

Uh.....it sounds like your power steering is working....
It a huge sensory/mechanical difference going from no power steering to a working system. Who did the work......a dealer...a good independent shop.......your neighbor's son's caregiver? Take it back and explain the "problem" to them. Then come back here and tell us what happened. Is it possible for you to take photos of the front wheel assemblies with the front tires off? Then someone here might be able to spot something problematic......maybe....

Struts
Do this simple test... push down on the fender over the tire and release quickly. The car should rebound quickly and not bounce around. If your struts are done, the car will bounce on the springs. Repeat on all corners.

I second the tie rod ends......if your shocks/struts are blown it simply causes clunking sounds but.
doesn't affect normal steering. Now for all we know...you need new struts regardless...how many miles are on the vehicle...what year is it?

OMG... The mechanic put the tie rods upside down! Argh! How the hell can you put a tie rod the wrong way??? Don't they go in one way? Sorry about all the confusion. So hopefully, that should fix all my problems. I drove with the tie rods upside down, is it possible, that they might any damage to the tie rods or other components? If so please let me know, I will make sure they are replaced at the mechanic's cost.
