Default Audi A4 Transmission Issues.

Hi all,

I have an Audi A4 Quattro 98 2.8 V6 triptonic and have trouble with the transmission, I think. This is what happened, two months ago I took it to the shop to fix a oil leak from the engine, when I went to picked it up from the shop I notice that the car was not working properly, I notice that when I shift, the car will accelerate by itself, from 2nd it wouldn't shift to 3rd, I had to do it manually in order to shift to 3rd and 4th, and that is the only issue I had at that moment.

Two weeks ago, it gotten worse, now when I try to shift manually to 3rd, for certain reason the PRND432 blinks, and I’m not able to move it manually, then the triptonic disappears and I only have the automatic option and on top of that, when I accelerate the car will not move forward and will only revolution to 7RPM, then I have to turn off the car to come back to the triptonic option.

Any suggestion or advice? The mechanics here are telling me that is the transmission but is to expensive to fix it, can you help me out?

thanks in advance for all your help.

Scan the TCU for codes. Could be as simple as a fluid and filter change if your really lucky. Other causes could be F125 switch bad or connector corroded, TCU bad, or wiring got wet in the passenger footwell. Tranny replacement would be the last option if all the above are good.

So you've been limping it around for two months without addressing the problem?

Wow.

My guess is low fluid from when the shop worked on it. If it is low fluid, driving it for two months like this was probably a poor choice.

I agree that you need the codes. You should also check fluid level.

"will only revolution to 7RPM"

I hope you don't mean that when it doesn't go, you wind the motor up to 7K RPM!

Are you sure the leak was from the engine? Might have been atf leaking from the tranny. In any case, yeah you need to check the level of the atf.
