Re: Suggestions for paint removal on rubber side moulding
Sam, not knowing what type of paint is on the rubber trim, I can only offer a few generalized suggestions. As with removing anything from your car, start with the least aggressive product/technique and work your way up to more aggressive methods until you get the desired effect. I would try the following in the order listed.
Soap and Water
Simple Green
Bug and tar remover
3M adhesive and wax remover (any auto paint supply store should have this)
Oops! (brand name) paint remover (try hardware stores)
If the paint is still there, they you may have to seek the help of a professional auto detailer or automotive paint shop.
Good Luck!

P.S. I have had good results using paint cleaning clay bars to remove overspray, bugs and crud from my car's paint, chrome trim and glass. I have never used a clay bar on rubber, but I can't imagine it would hurt to try.
