Default Suspension or Control Arms?

Hello,

I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Manual with sport suspension. 64k miles on it. Over the past six months the suspension seems to be getting progressively looser. I also often hear squeaks when going over bumps, holes, etc. Searching around the forums seem to suggest that the squeaking is a control arm issue. But the overall handling of the car seems to suggest the need of new shocks and springs. Right now, I'm going to have to decide between shock/springs or control arms (I currently can't do both $$$) Has anyone come across the same problem, any experience, comments or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Default Both

Stock shocks usually start to go around that many miles. So do the control arms in alot of cases. You're going to need an alignment for both. I would hold out until you can do the control arms and do everything in one shot.

You'll buy the labor twice if you do one at a time. Plus, I doubt if any competent shop would install a new suspension seup without changing the control arms anyway....it's just a very wear-prone area on these cars.

Default i recently just did the lower arms & it made a big difference. If u cant afford to do both just

the arms, a soft suspension is liveable. Its the clunks, squeeks & rattles that drive me nuts.
