Switched from Beru's Silverstones to factory plugs
While we're on the subject...
I was getting a hesitation at around 5200rpm in third gear. I switched from the Beru Silverstones back to the factory plugs and it went away. The pinging that I was really hoping to get rid of is still there.

that i couldn't tell you. I don't run APR.
Contact an APR distributor and see if there is a newer version. If not try cooler plugs. If this is consistant, tank to tank, time for FMIC?

I think the gas is OK
I always buy from a high volume reputable distributor, but I am going to try somewhere else just to see. I waited to get chipped until there was a local distributor for this very reason. They'll see the car soon. I spoke with Autosport Werks and they wondered if the timing wasn't being retarded when detonation was sensed, indicating a bad sensor, software or ?

well if all else fails try running plugs that are cooler. That might help reduce the chance of
pinging. Or purchase a couple gallons of 100+ and blend with each tank till you get it resolved.

Have the system MotorVac'd or BG cleaned? If you were getting sufficient misfires w/ those Beru
plugs you likely have carbon deposits in the chambers (valves and combustion chambers)those deposits can hotspot and cause pinging especially with poorer grades of gasoline and the elevated cyl pressures from a chipped car.

maybe, but understand under normal conditions all is fine
the pinging has occured when the engine has gotten very hot and the intercooler has heat-soaked. The car has 75k miles, probably 80% of it at highway speeds. I would be surprised if there is much build up, the sparkplugs looked perfect.
