Switching to Mobil 1

I only have 800 miles on my 2001 A4. I will be switching to Mobil 1, O w-30 as soon as I can. What is the recommendation as to when the change to a synthetic should be made? I've read something about allowing enough time with standard oil to get things sealed? When do I switch? Thanks. Tom.

Done at 5K. Any Reason To Worry?

I switched to Mobil 1 0W-30 at 5K service. But is it really "switching," because car ships from factory with synthetic 0W-30, right? And manual recommends use of this oil.
