Taillights - Left side brighter than right side... different voltages on each side?
Subject is '01 A4 1.8 Sedan. The left taillight is noticeably brighter than the right side. Either the left is getting too much juice in T/L mode or the other isn't getting enough. There is also evidence that the brighter bulb holder is overheating the plastic (some meltage), therefore maybe too much juice. It's not the bulbs themselves because I swapped them. And I know that these bulbs have 2 filaments: 1 on for taillight mode, 2 on for brakelight mode, but the brakelights work ok (same intensity). I was thinking of replacing either 1 or both bulb harnesses assuming a defect there.
Any suggestions?

Hmmm, interesting. They are not on but I did do the "right rear fog light" mod...
that is, there is a working bulb in that socket now; could the new path in the circuit be drawing voltage?
