Default Technical noob question: I assume front suspension lower control arms aren't same as tierod ends?

I had the tie rod ends replaced with kit 8D0-498-998-A and paid a bunch of money. Wanted to make sure it had nothing to do with the control arms and the recall that ended last year, in case they should have done them under that recall!

Default Nope. There are front upper and lower control arms. As well as tie rod ends.

How much was the kit/labor you had done? I had front upper and lower control arms, and tie rod ends replaced in december. Total for parts and labor was right about 1,000. Indy mechanic.

Default My control arms were checked 2 yrs ago under the recall and were ok.

Dealer did the tie rod ends plus alignment last yr for about $400.

Default well that was two years ago... There is a tech article that shows you how to check control arms..

the link is under tech articles (tab) tires/suspension (bottom one) and then it was like 4 or 5 down. has two video tests. require car corner you are testing to be jacked up.
