temporarily mounting front license plate
I just tried to get my inspection sticker today and can't because I don't have a front plate. Its gonna be a cold day in hell when holes get drilled into my bumper, so does anybody have a method of mounting it temporarilt just so I can get the sticker then remove it? I live in MA and was told that it has to be screwed on, there must be some way around this.

genuine brand velcro (the heavy duty $$$ stuff), then cut ur lic plate bolts and glue the head on
the lic plate holes. that way it'll look like it's screwed in rather then taped in. the 3M will work too, but i heard it'll mess up ur paint if left on. WAX before u do this.

Do you think the 3M tape will mess up the paint if its only on for a couple hours? I plan on having it on just long enough to get the sticker then its coming right off, that thing is such an eyesore

I know he's from MA, but in NY they must be "permanent mounted" that means bolts, not wire ties etc.
If a cop tugs it cuz it looks funky, and it comes loose, he could give you a ticket here for "unsecured license plate".
And, would then look at those illegal plastic covers over the plates (even clear are illegal in NY), the junk hanging from your rear view mirror (fuzzy dice, chains, handcuffs, Pine tree fragrance thing, etc), and write you a stack of tix...
