Default Testing the new Hanhook I-Pike snow tires

Well I got the Hanhook I-Pike tires 205/55-16 on ebay $370 shipped, mounted and studded for $120 so total cost was $490.

Yesterday I got them installed so I took a little test drive, I went to Hyalite Canyon and took a side road up to about 7,000. The road wasn't plowed but was driven, it was also very warm about 45, so the snow was really soft.

There was about 12-14 inches of hardpack slush at the top, the car kept bogging down and the road was getting narrow so I turned around. Pretty impressed with my first snow tires i was able to go 20-30mph up almost any hill.

Here are the pics

About 2 miles from main road, there is about 5 inches, i can pretty much go as fast as I want.

First test hill, I made it over the hump on the third try. I wasn't even trying, but the road was a dead end and kidn of narrow.

There was about 8-10 inches of loose slush.

Last hill, before I returned back, here there was about 14 inches and almost 18 in spots, the road was narrow and there was about a 50 ft drop on the right.

Default The traction with those new tires must be terrible!

HAHA, j/k.

Those tires rule dude! I would love to tool around in super deep snow with those tires. Too bad I wouldn't be able to easily pull some spins off in the snow.

studs do nothing on snow... they are for ice.

I think they bought that from Dunlop. That tire looks very familiar.

Default I think it's more like hardpack dry snow that they leave...

but I could be wrong, I dunno when I drove through Wyoming, Nebraska etc... on my way to Cali thats what it was and my Blizzak LM50's did fine on it. When I got to Cali (Lake Tahoe to be exact) I switched to Firestone's "Winterforce" my second season and they were hands down the best snow for the money. They came highly recomended by the 3 local tire places and based on snow levels in Tahoe I trusted them and they were dead on. Without Studs they were even very good on ice.
