i would like to save some weight, especially places far from the center of gravity.

rims/tires and uber expensive 2-piece brake rotors, 1/8 tank of fuel on race day.....
removing the A/C compressor is only going to save you about 5-10lbs and who wants to live without A/C???

40-50 Lbs about I would think.
The mechanical aspect plus the weight of the glass have to add up. The location of that weight in relation to the center of gravity is also another factor to consider.
