Default is there a central point on the A4's to jack the car up from?

i was at the local autoX event and saw some STi owners with a large hydrolic jack and they would raise it from the center, probably the rear differential? but they only needed one jack to access either the entire back or front of the car. can we do this with the A4s?

i ask because i am thinking of investing in a set of hydrolic jacks, but if i only need one this would make more sense

TIA

Default you only need 1 jack, use jack stands. Safer than just using a jack even if you're only changing

wheels/brake pads.

The car will be much more stable and will only take you a few more minutes to get the car up on stands as opposed to a single jack.

Default the reason i ask is last time i used my stands the car jumped off of one

the wheel was not turned and my garage is level. the car is lowered so i need to jack it up higher than regular and around the top of the jack it hopped off the stand on the other side so that scared me, but i guess ill try it again. thanks

Make sure you have the jackstands in the correct place.

Default Be Patient. Dont try to jack it all the way up on both sides.

Jack up one side half way, set the jack stand and move to the other side. Set that side up all the way and then move back over to the original side.

It will save you the visit to the hospital...

Default So you guys are saying to jack it on each side and not from a central point?

What's the best place for the stands?

Default I use 2 or more jacks... one does not get the car high enough...
