Thinking of becoming an A4 owner. What do I need to watch out for?
I'm thinking of moving away from my 1997 GTI VR6 into the world of Audi. Specifically a B5 A4 1.8T quattro with stick shift.
I'm thinking of a 2000 or 2001, but I'm open to suggestions that will sway me one way or another. What dangers do I need to look out for when I'm looking at used cars?
Additionally, what can I expect to pay? A local dealer had a 2000 A4 1.8T quattro with stick shift, silver, 29k miles, leatherette, aftermarket tail lights and H&R coilovers. Was asking $22,000. This seemed like a lot for this car.. am I wrong?
Advice people, I need advice! Help make my Audi purchase a succesful one.

Many people feel that 1999.5 was the best year for an A4.......
because it was the last model year that used a non- Drive By Wire throttle....meaning that the throttle was controlled by a physical cable rather than electronically (which they began in the 2000 model).
The non-DBW throttle is more responsive, has a better, more agressive feel than the DBW models.
