Thought I would share this with the board since no one here seemed to have the answer when I posted the question earlier this week.
1998 A4 Q
One morning I unlocked the car by inserting the key into the trunk lock, the car unlocked fine. From that time on the insde drivers door hanle would not open door, the outside handle worked fine. The car would lock and unlock fine.
I removed the door panel and remove the cable from the inside door handle and pulled, low and behold the door unlocked the inside latch and opened. I then locked and unlocked using the door and all was fine. I then locked and unlocked using the trunk and again the inside handle would open the door, it seem the inside door hanlde acts if LOCKED. Repeated action works great! not locking or unlocking via thetrunk again!
