Thoughts on the Audi A4
Just had my K04 put in w/upgraded chip as well as the H&R Koni combo. I don't understand why most people bother to spend the money on the K04 now. Although I don't have a dyno to find how much horsepower the car was making, there was barely a discerible difference between the k03 and K04.
Here's how my Audi compare to my other cars:
Setup:
'99 Prelude
Garrett T3/T4 Turbo
Tial 40mm Wastegate
Kiwi Fabrication Manifold
Apex'i Silvia Core Intercooler
HKS Super Sequential BOV
J&E 9:1 Pistons
Crower Rods
Total Seal Gapless Piston Rings
Iron Ductile Sleeving
Magnafluxed & Polished Crankshaft
AEM High Flow Fuel Rail
AEM adjustable pressure regulator
RC Engineering 550cc injectors
EFI Systems Programmable Engine Management System
EFI Systems Injector Driver
GM 3 Bar Map Sensor
J&S Safeguard

Thoughts:
The Audi stands out as a great daily driver, and people hauler, but from a performance standpoint, it sucks. Not only does its weight compromise acceleration (although much of it is also due to the quattro system), but it is undertuned from the factory. The Audi also does not have significant turbo upgrades. The T-28 offered by PES is the same turbo that comes STOCK on my SR20.
The Prelude has a lot more power & better acceleration than the Audi, but lacks in the area of hauling people/cargo. The Nissan Silvia kicks *** in the acceleration category, but I haven't tinkered enough with this car, as it is the bastard child of my cars. I love the Audi only because of Quattro, the comfort, and the way I feel safe behind the wheel (compared to the Prelude and Silvia). That's why I'm keeping it as my daily driver.
I know some of you people out there are gonna flame me so flame on!

Your not comparing Apples to Apples
BMW 540 have a 4.4 l engine, try comparing that to the 4.2 A6, your arguments make no sense. I had a 98 Prelude also and the car is absolute junk. Your Silvia is a different story, awesome car, Did you import it or is it a 240 conversion?

Yes, but the A4 is a fun, "sporty" luxury sedan, NOT a race car. You are expecting what it simply
is not designed to be ... You would also not complain that a Viper is not a practical "soccer-mom" car, or that a Suburban doesn't corner well on mountain twisties ... the A4 fills a niche of entry-level luxury, great built and finish, fun handling, in a peppy but not fassssst package.
