Default Thule fairing user...a little help please

Which part of the strut does the fairing bolt to and which side to the load bars? There is a long side and a short side. I currently have the fairing on the longer side of the strut and the shorter shorter bolted to the load bars. I have a feeling it should be the other way around so that the strut isn't showing above the fairing when looking at the car from the front. I have the fairing as high up on the strut as it can go without the strut preotruding below the fairing and touching the winshield. Thanks.

Default I have the fairing attached to the short side of the strut

I also have the struts mounted on the top of the load bar to have the fairing as high as it can go. Originally I put the struts underneath the load bar and I didn't have any noise reduction. With the struts above, it now works great.

Default does the fairing still touch your winshield mounted on top?

I was considering trying this last night, but I figured I would try it today and see how it worked....too much traffic to tell today.

Default no, it rests on the roof

Works very well this way -- I can have the sunroot open up until about 50mph with no noise and with the sunroof closed there is no noise until over 80mph with no bikes on top. With bikes on top, I start to hear whistling above 70mph. A big improvement over no fairing.
