time for new tires

time for new tires
Please forgive a naive question... it is time for me to face the fact I need new tires. I have a 98.5 2.8 tiptronic. Don't hate me, but there have been no modifications to the car, other than cosmetic. The car is currently running on Goodyear Eagle RS-A (205/55R16). What tires would someone suggest?

well then...
If you want to stay with all-seasons, then consider Dunlop SP5000 or Bridgestone RE950, or Yokohama AVS dB.
If you will not be driving on these tires in the snow, then consider upgrading to summer tires. You'll gain additional grip and more crisp steering response, at the expense of shorter treadlife. Also, going up to 225/50/16 size will help improve dry traction and high speed stability. There are many tires to choose from in this category - it all depends on how much you have to spend. On the low-end, the popular tires here are Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 and Sumitomo HTRZ-II. On the high-end, there is Toyo T-1S, Bridgestone S-03, Michelin Pilot Sport, Dunlop SP9000, and many many more. By going with a higher-end tire, you usually get better wet traction and less road noise as the tread wears down. You also get a bigger hole in your wallet ;-)

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta's and I have been very pleased with them...
I payed $430 installed and out the door for the set of 4,
mean while the Dunlop 6000 were gonna cost me $650 a set
Th Yokohama svt and the Pirelli P9000 were $700-$750 a set without mounting and balancing.
Over all I like the Kuhmo's alot better than the Dunlop 6000's that I had on the car prior to the Kuhmo's. The Dunlops were a little quieter than the Kuhmo's but I've had the Kuhmo's for almost 10k miles and they still look almost new.
It's all in how you drive the car, if you peel-out at every stop light or throw the car sideways into 90 degree turns on a regular basis, any performance tire will wear quickly. I drive fairly conservatively compared to others but I still push my car into corners pretty hard atleast once a week, every now and then you have to hear those tires squealing around a turn to fully enjoy these cars.
Just my opinion....

Firstly, get a PES supercharger. thats a mod. for tires, go sumitomo HTRZ II. best...
tire for the money you can find. a summer tire though. look at the tirerack review below. and only like 80-90 bucks for stock size. they are awesome, comparable to Bridgestone s02 or maybe even s03 (just compare them on tirerack!)
