Default Tinting laws in TX....

Is it required that you have a small DPS sticker in the driver window? I just had my windows tinted today and the guy put a DPS sticker in my window. I specifically said I didn't want any stickers. I was speaking of advertisements for them that they might to sneak in on my car=P When he saw that I didn't like it he said it is required by law. If it is required I would normally just deal with it, but to top it off, the sticker is crooked. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Everyone who has seen it so far has noticed it=(

Here is the sticker...

Oh well, on the bright side of things here is some pictures of the finished product. Llumar 28% all around...

28% It's really just the lighting. Not near as dark in person, especially during the daytime.

Default Could it be removed by cutting with razor blade? Then piece in another square of tint material?

That does really look hokey with that label...

Default That guy is a lying sack of **** - I'd take it back. BTW, nice tint ghetto boy...

...it'll be interesting to see if yours looks darker than mine when they sit side by side. I believe mine is 30%. Nitpick sticker issue aside, it looks good!

Here's what they will be looking at with regard to your tint - I think you can pass 20% easy, and there's no mention of checking for the advertising sticker.

Inspection stations have this little deal they slip over your window to measure your tint, so advertising stickers done mean squat.<ul><li><a href="http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/inspection/rules_list.asp?itemdrop=Window+Tinting&amp;rejects ubmit=Go">Texas DPS Vehicle Inspection</a></li></ul>

Default Hrm...nice to know...

I specifically asked for no stickers and he told me it was required. What a jerk. I'm going to call DPS just to check one final time on Monday and if they verify it again I'm taking it back and having him redo the driver window.

I wouldn't touch the tint. It'd never look the same after I touched it=P

Default My sticker stuck out quite a bit for the first couple weeks

with an air bubble around the edge. I wasn't real happy about it, but it did eventually go away.

Default I called Allan here in austin this afternoon...

He said he can fit you in this weekend (either friday afternoon or sat morning) to redo the driver-side window without the DPS sticker. Only peroblem is that he does NOT carry LUMAR tint. Said you will have to buy a few feet of Lumar 28%, and that he will install for you. He didnt give me a price, but im sure one window will not cost that much. =)
