Default Tire Brand and Size Recommendations for 17" Moda R6's? Best bang for buck?

I have a 2001 A4 1.8t quattro, planning some rim/tire upgrades come Spring. I appreciate your input on brand and sizes. Best values pls. Pics also appreciated

225/45/17 is stock 17" size. Kumho, Falken are two popular cost effective tires with decent grip.

and the new Yoko AVS ES100 seems to be in that category, too, but so far very little feedback.

Grassroots mag did a review of them and compared them to the Kumho ecsta mx type of tire.

Default really? According to TireRack, MX is in a different category than ES100.

MX is in the same category as S-03 and AVS Sport. ES100 is in the same category as Kumho 712 and Dunlop FM901. Go figure.

So, what were the results anyway?

Default I plan on it... I'm still trying to break them in but so far all is well.

I also went from non-sport suspension with stock wheels/tires to APR springs, NB shocks and 18" Moda R6 with AVS ES100 at the same time! So needless to say, my ride is drastically different than before.

But as for the tires, I have pushed the limits in wet and dry and I have yet to slip at all. I have only put a little less than 1000 miles on them so it's still too early to tell. I will post a review in a few weeks.

Pete

Default Kumho, 235/40-17's are right on speed-wise according to my neighbor & his radar gun.

This will provide a little more rim protection compared to 225/45s.

What speed rating should would you recommend on the Kumhos?
