Default Tire quote...

I stopped in to Firestone today, the guy said he could hook me up with a set of Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position tires. (225/45-17)

$109.11 each tire.
$13 each tire for mount, balance, stems, and disposal.
$18.60 each tire for road hazard plan.

$606.37 total with tax.

Does that sound like a good price? I've read good reviews on the tire. I don't track my car, it's just a daily driver.

He said he was able to get me that price because the S03's are going off the market cause there's a newer model? Makes me wonder if I should waste the $18/tire on road hazard. (Because they would not be able to give an exact replacement should I take a nail in the sidewall a year from now.)

TIA

They are $194 ea. on Tire Rack. Buy them quick & skip the road hazard.

Shizzle, I forgot to mention these were 91Z rated. Didn't see those on Tire Rack...

Default Try Discount Tire

and Discount Tire Direct. Last purchase I ordered thru Discount Tire Direct and brought them to a Discount Tire store for mounting. They said they would have matched the internet price. They threw in hazard protection for free (already used it once), and free rotation / RoadForce balancing every 5k miles
I've had excellent service with them, and they are willing to 'deal', especially if you work with the manager.
Ended up cheaper than TireRack / others.

Default those are the old S03s. there are 94Z and 91Y S03s. I'd buy them for that price mounted. skip

the road hazard. a repair is $12-15. doesn't make sense to buy that plan.

Default So you think I should get the old S03's as quoted in my original post?

I agree, I'll skip road hazzard. I always carry a tire plug kit with me anyhow.

Default yes. can't beat that price for S03s or tires like them. nothing wrong with the old 91Y S03s

compared to the 94.

I bet most of the people on this forum who got S03s when they were "the best tire on AudiWorld" were buying the 91Y S03s.

I'm on my 2nd set of them.

You do have winters, if needed?

Thanks for the info. For winter I'm going to mount Nokian RSI's on my OEM wheels.
