Tonight, my friends, I earned Master Ninja Status!
So my car was sitting on the dealers lot with a nice shiny GIAC chip in it, and that I could not have. Soooo....Operation Ninja went into affect.
At about 10pm in the freezing cold I pulled up to the dealer, parked my truck and decided I should take back that which the dealer should not see. I hopped a 5 foot fence and went into the customer parking area where my car was located. While concealed in the darkness of the night (and the lack of lighting) I went to work and popped the hood, pulled the ECU, and switched the X with the stock program. Then I unplugged the battery and let the car sit for 30 minutes. Absolutely no security was around so I walked around the lot and found my friends 2000 Golf 1.8T. Eventually I went back to my car, plugged the battery back in, took all my crap out of the car and fired it up. If I didn't start the car again the misfire codes would have been cleared from when I unplugged the battery. That thing is LOUD when it's misfiring like it was. Once the CEL started flashing I shut it down, hopped the fence, and was out of there like I had never been there in the first place. Luckily I keep all the right tools in my car or this would not have worked.
"Water can crash or it can fall...if you put it in a cup it becomes the cup, if you put it in a bowl it becomes the bowl...it has no shape, no form, and can adapt to anything...be water my friends."
With lots of random Bruce Lee quotes stuck in my head I was able to pull this all off. If all my hard work and planning turns out to be in vain and the dealer finds out that there once was a chip I am going to raise hell.
