totalled !!
they say they just sent the paperwork to mercury
and I should be hearing from my ageny by tuesday....In a way I'm glad it was totalled, because from the way it looked I knew it wouldn't be safe in a roll-over again.
so on the plus side, 2001.5 here I come!!! I wonder what the order/receive lag will be...hopefully a few months so I can save for a b-i-g down-payment

I took a couple pics of my car yesterday, I'll try to get em up sunday.
For those who have gone through this and are bored enough to reply

... how do you think I'll fair financially? I leased in July w/ 40mi in the car. The the car had ~8000 at the crash scene. I put $4000 down, got the car for $29787, basically 800 off MSRP. Here's a run through the numbers:
Gross Capitalized Cost: $29787
Capitalized Cost Reduction: -$2382
Adjusted Capitalized Cost: = $27404
Residual Value: -$16518
Depreciation and any Amortized Amounts: =$10886
Rent Charge: +$9382
Total of Base Monthly Payments: $=20268
Lease Payments: /48
Base Monthly Payment =$422
Monthly Sales Tax: $=35
Total Monthly Payment =$457
the numbers are a little off because I ignored the cents for the most part. In the general sense I'm wondering how much I'd have to give out from my pocket to put me back in a situation like I was in, namely 2001 audi a4, same options, etc.
As soon as the car rolls off the lot, it drops about $2-3K, the insurance company only has to pay you for fair market value of the car when it was wrecked..
Therefore, you LOST that money and would be responsible to still pay for the car, even though the insurance won't pay you enough to cover what is owed.
How that works on a lease I have no idea... Audi might take all the insurance check to cover the car? If so, you walk away and start fresh, but lost that 4K down payment.
I am interested to see how a lease situation like this turns out. (I never have been a lease fan, just not enough miles on them for my taste.. I hate to pay on a per mile basis if I go over)
Thanks

This may be the second point (besides the great warranty) that will make me lease an Audi again. I just hope they fix the bugs in the new Audi 2002.
