Olympic Pace car

ok I dunno maybe 6 months ago I guess it was a gradually thing but long story short:

My shifter goes into 5th instead of 3rd if you push straight forward on the shifter in neutral.
As if the whole pattern was knocked over


Now yesterday my shift linkage is busted(1st and 2nd, are next to impossible to engauge)

any ideas why? and what to look for?
