trip odometer says OIL SERVICE...
I just bought a used '98 A4 and a month later, the trip odometer said oil service. I changed the oil with a K&N filter and with synthetic oil... and it still says OIL SERVICE when I start my car... any suggestions???

don't sweat it......it's only a mileage counter....it doesn't know the actual status of your oil....
it has nothing to do with the synthetic oil, the filter, or the price of beans in China.
It simply counts mileage since the last time it was reset. You'll have to have a dealership reset it, or you might be able to do it with a vag tool.
