Thanks to all who responded to posts last week. The nasty center of the dash whine was from the intake fan for the climate control system. I'm guessing a coincidence that it is making noise now or that the unit was disturbed by taking the head unit out of the car. In either case, IMO its a warranty issue that wont be that bad to have fixed. Custom Car alarm was helpful in diagnosing the problem and I'm glad I had an installer do the work, I would have been crazy if it had been my work and I could not figure out the issue.

Now AOA, make those damn fans heartier!
