Turbo upgrades -- options w/lag, etc...
Situation -- I have a 2001 tip Quattro, and the low end always kinda sucks. I eventually would like to upgrade my turbo, but a K04 is known to have even greater turbo lag, and I cannot rev my engine at a start like you manual drivers can .
Any suggestions for upgrades that won't significantly compromise my low end? I will be picking up exhaust in the near future, so besides that.
Are there any header upgrade options for an A4? How about just a higher quality turbo, like a ball-bearing Garret or something?
Thanks!

actually, the auto has an advantage over the manual...........
you can "brake torque" on launch.
hold the brake and gas, which puts load on the motor and spools the turbo, it wont rev up much, but if you have a boost guage you can watch this

You can get rid of the "Turbo Lag" by trying the "accelerator to the floor" technique before starting the car. I've found it is a bit better on my 1.8T Tip machine.

What RPM should the turbo kick in? It feels kinda jerky to me, but then I've never owned a turbo bef
