Default Urgent TRE Change question...

I'm now changing the driver side TRE on my Dad's Passat and it's the same procedure as the A4. Only problem is I measured from the lock nut on the thread to the TRE body and it was about 1.1" before removal. I'm putting the new one back in and for the life of me I can't screw it in anymore to the point where the lock nut is about 1.5" away from the TRE body. If I leave it like this and manage to get the TRE back in and tighten everything, yes the alignment will be screwed up but will it be ok to drive if an alignment is performed today? tia

Default all depends on how far you have to drive.

also did you measure the lenght of the rod on the old and new TRE?
