I salvaged a pair of HID projectors from some old US S4 housings but after I took them apart, I got confused with the cutoffs. Why are they different from each other and which one goes where? My original H7 cutoffs were the same

IIRC the one that has the narrow opening goes on the left

if the lens is doing its job and keeping the light on the ground, why would it let less light through one side?
