Used 2000 2.8 Avant... Price Advice Needed:
I've located what appears to be a dream car from a dealer, but I think the price is kind of high. The salesman has hinted that there's a chance for some reduction, but not much. The car came on the market 3-4 weeks ago at $32,000, and with stops at $31,500 and $30,900, it's come to rest at $30,300. It's got 19k miles and looks brand new. It's pretty loaded:
5 spd.
Sport package
Convenience package
Cold package
Navigation package
6 CD
Xenons
Audi Assured warranty extension
I can place an order today for a 2001 model with convenience and Bose premium sound packages for $2500 more than this. Anyone out there with some sound advice?

If you don't mind driving a brand-spanking new car, I'd foot the extra $2500....
The $2500 is much less than the depreciation of that 2000 over 19k miles. I've had my 2000 A4 2.8QMS 12.5k miles Santorin blue w/ sport pkg, lthr, cold-wthr, sport seats (no xenon or Bose or sidecurtains) on the market for $31,900 (but expecting a few thousand less) with no bites whatsoever. I guess that tells me I'm overpriced or the economies really bad. I would try to weasel him down another thousand or so, or ante up the $2500 for a new one, or even wait for a 2002 model.

Thanks.
I'd love to wait for the 2002, particularly for the extra room in the back, but I can't hang on until the Fall (plus, who knows what the 2002's gonna cost).
BTW, you car's a beauty, good luck unoading it.

It looks like I'm too far down the depreciation curve. I think I'll keep it....
My problem is that I should never have bought a brand new car. I worry too much about it, like getting door dings, scratches, etc., etc. It's a lot of money to pay for that kind of worry. But, I'm trying to change my mindset on the whole matter. There were also some quirks about these new Audis that I didn't care for compared to my old 4000. As I looked around VW dealers, they wouldn't give me squat in trade for it, which was making me really mad. I guess A4's aren't as popular as the sales figures suggest. (I really don't believe that, but it must be true in my case.)
