Valvoline Synpower Brake Fluid. "Exceeds Dot 3 & 4".
But supposedly it's compatible with both types; and for cars with ABS. Is it just marketing hype, or is it actually a good fluid to use for these cars?

That's what I just stuck in my car... Should be good for $7.50 a bottle. :P
What do you think about Motul's DOT4 'Racing' brake fluid at $16.50 a bottle? I was gonna get it, but was like, 'whoa' after seeing the price.

Do a search on Brake Fluid types: DOT 3, 4, & 5.1 differ only by their wet/dry boiling numbers .
IIRC: DOT 3.0 has 400* dry, DOT 4.0 has 450* dry, and DOT 5.x has 500* dry.
DOT 5.0 consitutes a wholly different type of braking fluid system (silicone? IIRC); thus, 5.0 does not work with any other type of braking system due to silicone in the fluid.
DOT 5.1 came about when chemists figured out how to make regular brake fluid have as high wet/dry boiling numbers as the DOT 5.0 silicone fluids.

I'm starting to think DOT 3 is better than DOT 4 fluid. (ducks for cover)
For less frequent service, DOT 3 might be better.
DOT 4 starts with higher boiling point, but as it accumulates water, the boiling point drops below that of DOT 3 with the same amount of moisture. Maybe that's why 2 years service is called for in Euro cars and no service is called for in others.
