I just thought of this, but hadn't given it much thought before.. But I have been trouble with my coolant temp sensor off and on for a little while (intermittent).. I noticed that the Ross Tech website states that coolant should be between 5 and 95C.. would a bad coolant sensor stop VCDS from doing a TBA, even though there isn't a code for it at the moment? Since it would not be able to read the coolant temperature, I see this as a possibility.. But it still does not explain the recurring Throttle body codes

I tried replacing my coolant sensor.. only to break the retainer clip on it.. So I can't start my car until tomorrow night anyway, after I pick up a new retainer clip.. anyways, I am having trouble getting the old sensor out, any tips? It's in there tight. So I ended up not getting my sensor out, but I still tried plugging my harness into my new coolant sensor, all it does is read temperature anyway, right? But this didn't help my previous theory of my coolant sensor stopping me from doing TBA. But I did notice that all three codes I had before come back immediately if I clear them close out of my faults window in VCDS and open it up again. So I'm beginning to think that my throttle body is the problem, or my ECU... Any insight?

Is the throttle body plugged in tight?

Well get the coolant temp sensor replaced. Then take it in for a diagnosis. Make sure the mechanic knows audis.

Yes, I made sure the TB was plugged in tight and checked all the wires. I even went as far as ordering a used ECU from ebay for $30.. if the ECU isn't the problem then I'll just have a spare I guess, haha

At this point you're just throwing parts hoping it would fix your issue. Is the ECU compatible with your car?

It is the identical part number as mine, so I'm guessing it is?
