Voltage Issues Please Help
Hello all,
I have a 96 A4 with 135k miles, 2.8V6. For the past month the voltage meter has stayed around 8 volts, then will jump up to 12, 14, etc., then go back to 8. I replaced the battery and alternator, still same problem. Last night when I was driving it I heard a soft electrical cracking noise coming from the fuse box area; then for the next 2 hours the voltage gauge stayed around 14 consistently. Next day it was back to normal. I checked all of the fuses and they are fine. Has anybody come across this before? It's driving me nuts, please help. Thanks in advance!
