voltmeter peaked over 16 today...

Default voltmeter peaked over 16 today...

both the climate control and trip comp all blacked out but the car ran fine. i have no idea where to start, can anyone diagnose?

Default IIRC there should be voltage regulator module on the back of the alternator

Not sure if it's sold seperately or not, but that could be going bad

Past experience with college car (chevy)...regulator is sold WITH the alternator.

probably...maybe a junkyard might let one go cheap?

Default correct.. had a voltage regulator go bad on my 92 bimmer... replaced whole alternator.

voltage regulators are not seperate.

that was a hige problem, my lights would fade up and down, I would blow high beam bulbs all the time... it wa crazy
