Water on front floorboard mat after heavy rain: anyone know where it might be coming from?
We've had a few heavy rains here in ATL over the past week, and I've noticed that only after the heaviest rains (and sometimes I've had to drive in it) I've got some dampness in the front driver's side floor mat. It's not a puddle, but just some noticable wetness soaked into the carpet. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if there are any areas prone to leaking that I should check out. 1998 2.8Q. Thanks...

Have any aftermarket stereo work, alarm systems, or boost gauges installed?
Wires run through the firewall, that have not been sealed properly are a source of water leaks into the cabin. Have a friend run a garden hose over the front windshield, and poke your head down there to see if you can spot where the water might be entering from.

I just read someplace about a plenum drain valve ...more
that needs occasional service and inspection. I I was reading on MicroSoft CarPoint about all the service and for A4's.
"Plenum Water Drain Valve -
A plugged Plenum Water Drain Valve may cause water to flow into the interior"
The description was exactly what you said, Maybe call a dealer after you read the service stuff. Good Luck.
Let me know if this helps.

Check the seal boot / grommet around the hood release cable. This located on the drivers side near the ECU. I recently had the same problem and after reseating the boot the water issue was resolved.
Good Luck
