Water in the spare tire well?

Water in the spare tire well?
I just got done with my spring wheel swap and as I was putting one of my full size winter wheels into the well as the spare, I discovered a puddle of water in the bottom. Not just damp, but enough to require a whole bath towel to soak it up.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I can't tell where it came from.

Ok I have no carpeting or sound deadening in the trunk and I do not see a tube of any sort
There are a couple of plastic tabs at the bottom of the driver side well, one I can see light through.
But I dont think that would cause all the water in the spare tire well.
