Weird Problem... Even stranger way of asking.
Ok, I'm going to give this a stab trying to describe what's happening. First off I have a 99.5 A4 with APR chip and new TurboX bypass Value.
Now the prob: When I'm driving down the highway.. I might be going about 45-50 and sometimes when I'm real light on the gas pedal, the car seems to 'lurge'. Ok this is the strange part I have to try and describe. You know the feeling you get sometimes when you put the gas on and off real quick.. It kinda slows down a bit. Well anyways, this is what it seems to be doing when the gas is on. I was thinking it might be the intake or turbo or something along those lines. Ugg, hopefully someone out there knows what the hell I'm babbleing about. Thanks in advance!

Re: Sounds like your new bypass valve is not working properly.
Interesting. That is always possiable. I just left it 'default', no extra washers or anything. Should I add or remove some? Thanks

It could be your A/C compressor kicking in
My car does this too. When stopped and the car in neutral, you would not notice any "lurching" if the AC compressor turned on, because the transmission is not engaged. But you would notice the tachometer jump up a few hundred RPMs (for example while sitting at a traffic light).
If you are accelerating or giving the car a lot of gas there would not be any lurching, because the car is providing enough torque to satisfy the AC compressor.
But when you are light on the gas, and the AC kicks in, it wants more gas. First time I noticed it, I remembered the 1986 "Unintended acceleration" issue. But then when I realized what it is, I didn't worry about it anymore.
There is an easy fix for this problem -- don't drive light on the gas. Always keep your foot to the floor! ;-)
Hope that's all it is, and not something major...
Cheers,
Peter

Re: It could be your A/C compressor kicking in
I wish! The first time it does it, I'm usually able to duplicate it by lightly putting the gas on and off. At least until I have to slow down a lot or shift... Don't think it's the clutch do you?
